The incumbent’s primary role is to lead the Petroleum Engineering Team in planning, managing and optimising the extraction of oil and gas to attain/exceed the Company’s production target in a safe and cost-effective manner. The Petroleum Engineering Team Leader shall also review the current technical workflows/procedures to identify gaps, areas for improvement and develop plans to ensure timely closure. The person will assist guiding technical recommendations, operational planning/integration and schedules to support the Company’s growth initiatives.


  • Coordinates well/field performance reviews to identify production enhancement activities such as well optimization, sand management/exclusion, water shut-off/conformance, chemical treatments, recompletion opportunities etc.
  • Conducts technology screening and identifies, evaluates and proposes production technology strategies to enhance production performance
  • Collaborates with Subsurface and Drilling Teams in the well planning phase to define completion strategy to achieve efficient production and reserves recovery
  • Advises and monitors well diagnostic, trouble-shooting and intervention activities to resolve production and operational issues
  • Assists/manages the commissioning and start-up of new and brownfield projects as required to ensure compliance with standards, specifications and contract terms and conditions
  • Champions usage of Automation Technology/ Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and its integration in the operations to derive maximum benefit
  • Provides mentoring and coaching to junior engineers and acts as a driving force in sharing industry best practices and lessons learned. Motivates personnel for improved capacities and performance
  • Recognizes Petroleum Engineers competency gaps and assists with guiding development plans
  • Builds ongoing relationships with key members and functional managers within the Company. Effectively maintains internal and external communications with a broad variety of stakeholders.


  • BSc/MSc Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of work experience in production operations
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in a supervisory role
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience with SCADA system for wells’ and facilities integrity and optimization
  • In-depth knowledge of the various oil field procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of production, facilities, completion, and drilling engineering
  • Knowledge of Reservoir, Drilling, Operations and Geology for effective interaction and support of current operations and acquisition review and evaluation
  • Excellent computer skills and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook etc.
