The incumbent is responsible for safe and efficient delivery of drilling programs and related activities inclusive of providing technical support, verifying all drilling, workover and completion programs, risk assessments and associated documentation.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Prepares detailed drilling program and performs all aspects of drilling engineering works for the successful, cost effective and safe implementation of drilling activities
- Prepares the DRL2 data packages for submission
- Recommends the equipment, material, ratings and grades to be used in the drilling process
- Supports the requirements for the scope of works and technical specifications for tender packages to be in line with project requirements
- Reviews offset surrounding wells data for target sands and engineers the most optimal design for the target well
- Prepares cost estimates for raising the Account for Expenditures (AFEs) for each well
- Reviews third party programs i.e. cementing plans, directional drilling plans, drilling fluids programs, drill string and drill bit programs to ensure optimal recommendations to meet the drilling requirements
- Summarizes progress of the project, highlights milestones achieved, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), forward planning and timing
- Interfaces with relevant internal and third parties to ensure that the drilling operations is executed as per approved plan
- Adheres to HSSE procedures and rules as it relates to drilling activities and assists in promoting the implementation of same to ensure compliance and effectiveness in the drilling activities
- Reviews day-to-day operations and captures learnings for future reference
- Highlights and updates all issues pertaining to the operations
- Provides technical support during the drilling process
- Prepares End of Well reports for each well drilled and completed
- Reconciles tracked and invoiced costs with the Finance Department
